Inside Maker’s Mark Private Select 108.8

Bourbon aged in new charred oak commonly leans toward caramel and vanilla. Equally, wood sugars from the barrel shape much of the flavour you find. Oak tannin gives the finish structure rather than sharp edges. In other words, the style rewards slow sipping more than fast mixing. For that reason, Maker’s Mark Private Select 108.8 rewards attention rather than speed.

Pairings and Perfect Moments

Barbecue night gives this bottle an easy job to do. Better still, caramel desserts echo the barrel character without competing. Collectors reach for bottles like this when a shelf needs an anchor. Because of that, burgers off the grill suit a casual pour on ice. Birthdays, retirements and promotions all suit a bottle of this kind. Then, pair it with Maker’s Mark Bourbon and Maker’s Mark for a side by side tasting.

Where Bourbon Comes From

Bourbon starts life as a mash of at least fifty one percent corn. In fact, allocation keeps many sought after labels hard to find at retail. Barrel entry proof and warehouse position both shape the final liquid. Therefore, corn leads the mashbill, so the spirit arrives with natural sweetness. Limited releases move quickly once word travels through collector circles. As a result, browse the wider whiskey brands collection to compare styles.
